Delta High School wrestling made history over the weekend when junior Jane Douglas became the first female wrestler from Delta to win a title at the Mountain City Christian Academy tournament, formerly known as Anchorage Christian School.

The Huskies traveled to the academy to compete in the Rich Hofacker Wrestling Tournament, where Jane Douglas claimed the championship and made her mark in Delta wrestling history.

“The amount of work this young lady has put in to achieve this goal is unmatched,” said coach Zach Wiggins. “I can’t wait to see what she does the rest of the season.”

Jane Douglas was not the only Husky to earn a podium finish. Her sister Carolyn Douglas placed third at 126 pounds, as did Eliana Howell at 165 pounds. Erik Selevchuk earned fourth place in the 285-pound weight class.

Jane Douglas' historic win marks an exciting milestone for the Delta wrestling program as the team continues its season.
