Warren James (Butch) Augustin, age 82, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 25, 2026, at home in Delta Junction, Alaska, surrounded by his wife and children.

Warren was born on June 9, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Dorothy (née Blakely) Augustin. He grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from Germantown High School in 1962, entering into the United States Regular Army shortly after his graduation. He proudly served three years at Fort Dix, New Jersey, serving as an office clerk and leaving the service as a Specialist 5.

On October 17, 1964, he married Natalie Shoemaker in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania at the Berachah Church on Ashbourne Road. Warren owned a small local hardware store and they built a life together, being blessed with and raising two children, Lisa Caryl and Michael James. He also worked some evenings at the Sunday Breakfast Association in Philadelphia, being part of the ministry to those who were “down and out” in Center City. In 1978, Warren was given an opportunity to move to Alaska and be part of a Christian community that owned and operated a dairy farm in Palmer, Alaska. He had always wanted to be a dairy farmer and considered this an answer to a childhood desire, as well as a definite spiritual adventure and growth. He and his wife and children packed their belongings and left for Alaska, living in Palmer until 1984 when they were blessed with a third child, Stephen Jonathan. That same year the Christian community moved from Palmer to New Hope Community Church in Delta Junction, Alaska, continuing farming, and tree harvesting, and developing other businesses to support the community. Warren also worked for Doug and Jackie Fett at Interior Hardware for a few years to help bring in more income. When he was on the farm, he loved working with the younger boys, teaching them farming, hunting and camping skills, in addition to being a genuine “funny guy,” teasing, and sometimes irritating, the ladies in the kitchen. Warren and Natalie adopted (not legally) another daughter, Tammy, during those years and she was, and continues to be, part of the family, though she now resides in Canada.

In the summer of 1999, Warren, Natalie, and Stephen moved to a Christian community in Northern California. Lisa was grown and married. Michael was living at Whitestone, and Tammy was stable and an asset and resource to the community setting. Warren and Natalie remained in California for 10 years, returned to live in Wasilla, Alaska, in the summer of 2010. They then moved back to Delta Junction, Alaska in 2016, where they resided with their children and grandchildren until Warren’s passing. Warren worked for Delta Industrial Services from 2016 until a couple weeks before his death. It was genuinely his “happy place,” and he loved the people there and the company he worked for. He also served the needy in the community once a month by managing and helping to deliver food items.

Warren was a child of God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his spouse, Natalie; daughter Lisa Caryl, and her husband Andrew Stossmeister; and children Eric (engaged to Alyssa Hanson) and Douglas; son Michael James Augustin and wife, Serena (née Merrick) and children Joshua, Matthew, Judah, Ana, and Gabriel; and son Stephen Jonathan and wife, Audrey (née Adams), and children Michael and Sawyer; and adopted grandson, Zander Stossmeister; his sister-in-law, Carol Augustin, and sons Scott, Jeff, and Doug and their families; and Warren’s half brother, John, his wife, Shelley, and children Joseph, Keren, and Andrew Augustin.

Warren was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, his mother, Dorothy, and his older brother, Jerome.

A celebration of life will be held at the Word of Life AOG Church on Clearwater Road in Delta Junction on October 31, 2026 at 1 p.m. Luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to those who are less fortunate in the local community through services such as Five Loaves Pantry, Mercy Mercantile (formally God‘s Helping Hands), and Delta Hospice and Comfort Care.
